Today, all the EDMT faculty members attended a single-day conference for teachers in Grand Rapids hosted by MACUL. The 300-plus teachers here today are working hard to leverage technology, in particular, Google applications, into their teaching. The power of the apps and their pedagogical potential cannot be ignored and I am convinced teachers in Michigan won’t ignore their potential for making a difference.

MACUL Grant Proposals are now being accepted. Get up to $1500 for an innovative educational need or opportunity project. Show how technology can meet this need.

Applications must be submitted online by 5:00 pm on Monday, May 16, 2016.

2016 MACUL Conference

It’s not too late to register for the 2016 MACUL Conference scheduled for March 9-11 in Grand Rapids MI.

EDMT student Sean Soules will present at 2:30p on Thursday, Mar 10 about giving students an engaged learning experience through a gaming platform. The title of his session is Immersive Learning in the 21st Century Classroom.

Dr. Jones and Dr. Copeland are presenting at 4p on the 10th with 2nd grade teacher Chery Lykowski about their telecollaboration project. The session is titled Second Graders Learning about Segregation with Social Media and Project-Based Learning. See the conference schedule for room locations.

The College of Education offers over 90 scholarships from our three academic departments (Teacher Education, Leadership and Counseling, and Special Education) and Dean’s office. Each year, students apply for and receive thousands of dollars in financial aid from both endowed and expendable funds established by our generous donors.

Regarding EDMT, the Stokes Educational Technology Scholarship is offered through the Dept. of Teacher Education and is available to an EDMT student who meets the selection criteria.
