I’m a former graduate of your IA program and member of the 2011 EMU CCDC team. My current employer is looking for full-time employees with advanced experience in Linux (particularly CentOS). If you or Brad Wilkerson know anyone who might be looking for such a position, have them forward a resume and a cover letter to rod@totalcae.com. The Michigan High Tech Crime Investigation Association has invited the IA EMU Students to a special presentation July 10 in Sill Hall. Hopefully you will be able to attend.
MI HTCIA and Guests:
Matthew Evett and Skip Lawver with Eastern Michigan University’s School of Technology Studies have made it possible for EMU Sill 1 (the main lecture hall in Sill) to be the venue for our upcoming meeting Wednesday, July 10, 2013.The meeting runs from 9:00 AM – 12:00PM.Refreshments will be provided.
Presenter: Dr. Rich Enbody
Dr. Rich Enbody, with Michigan State University, will present on Solid-State Drives (SSD) and how they differ in two very important ways from traditional hard disk drives (HDD).
These differences may impact Forensic analysis of a computer and computing in general. First, a file can actually be deleted. Second, imaging a drive at two different times, with no writes in between, can yield forensic images that are different from one another. Given our understanding of how hard drives work, these two examples seem impossible, however, they are possible with SSDs. Professor Enbody will describe the characteristics of SSDs that cause these two phenomena.
