Google comes to EMU (sort of)

Nik Estep, EMU alumnus and Google Software Engineer for Mobile Search Features visits virtually to talk all things Google. Come learn about the exciting internals of one of the foremost tech companies in the world today. Also on the agenda are next summer’s internships and full-time roles that are available for those students who are nearing graduation. Open to all levels of students and a Q&A session will follow the presentation.

RSVP is required

EMU SlackChat

Feel free to check out the Unofficial EMU Computer Science Slack Chat! It’s a place where fellow students can come and chat about whatever they’d like! Use it for group project communications, homework help, or just general social banter.

The more people we have on there, the better of a resource it is! Sign up with your email, and feel free to download their Desktop or Mobile Apps to stay up to date.

Any questions, feel free to reach out to Stefano Prezioso at

Note: This is not an official EMU service, rather a communication channel organized by fellow students to help create a sense of community within our program. It is not endorsed or moderated by EMU or the Computer Science department in any way.

WiCS – Volunteer Opportunity – Teach Middle School Girls @ Digital Divas – Nov 6

Digital Divas is a 1-day event on campus where girls from Michigan middle schools come in and learn about technology. We’re going to lead a workshop 3 times that day, teaching girls how to make mobile apps using MIT App Inventor. We’ve done this twice before, and it is FUN!

What We Need:

Volunteers to help present the material and help the girls troubleshoot as they build their apps. If this sounds scary or advanced, don’t worry – we’ve already created a PowerPoint presentation, two of us have already led this workshop previously, and we will rehearse with you beforehand so all volunteers feel comfortable with the material.

Friday, November 6th (~10am – 3pm, though you don’t have to commit to the whole day)

Experience Required:

None! Even if you’re currently in 111, I guarantee that you have the skills necessary to help lead this workshop.
