True Life: I’m a Chemistry Nerd

By: Sarah Orr

Personally, none of the other sciences appeal to me, except one: Chemistry!

Perhaps, it was the ease in which I memorized specific elements, the top thrill, mind blowing labs or because I caught on fast and ended the class with a solid A+. Whichever reason motivated my love of this science, there’s one element (see what I did there) that I dislike: The Chemistry Nerd look.

If anyone has taken a chemistry course in high school, college, or was even a member of the chemistry club, you know to what I’m referring to. Most times in Chemistry you have to manipulate various chemicals, some of which have harmful consequences. With that being said, you are required to wear safety goggles once you enter the lab.

These goggles have obvious potential of becoming the latest fashion accessory which includes their clear complexion, air holes from all sides, and even their around the head, black strap that can be adjusted.

But, they have a major consequence.

After you remove the goggles in a totally movie star manner, you are marked with the noticeable chemistry nerd lines. These bright red indents not only make people think you were sun bathing last class, but they all know you just got out of chemistry class, or worse, that you are a chemistry nerd!

All in all, don’t let those embarrassing chemistry lines stop you from flaunting your intelligence! Chemistry Rocks!
