There is no surprise that EMU is full of golf carts and having golf carts requires awareness. I am writing this blog as both a student who drives a golf cart for work and a student who needs to be respectful of the golf carts on the road.
I know many students listen to their iPod or MP3 player however, though you may not hear the golf cart please be aware that the drivers try their best to get your attention. When students do not pay attention it causes the drivers to go off the sidewalk which is harmful to the golf cart.
I am well aware of how annoying golf carts can be when you’re trying to walk to and from classes however, there have been countless times that I have been driving a golf cart and students have turned around and saw me, but did not move to one side so I or my coworkers would be able to get by. Please be respectful of the drivers and they will respect your space as well.
I have definitely been in a position where a golf cart has annoyed me when I am trying to walk to class, however; being behind the wheel is just as frustrating. So just remember if you see or hear a golf cart move to one side so that the driver can get by. I know myself and all the other people who drive the golf carts will really appreciate it
